We provide residential experience for our pupils in years 2, 4 and 6.
Residentials are a great way of creating special memories for our pupils whilst at the same time developing their independence and personal skills.
Our year 2 pupils go to Tolmers for two days and one night. For many it is the first time sleeping under canvas and a great adventure exploring the woods. They also enjoy kayaking and climbing activities. Year 4 spend four days and three nights at Tolmers engaging in a range of physical activities to develop their personal skills as well as an appreciation of the environment.
Idwal Cottage, Snowdonia
Our Year 6 go further afield and visit the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. It’s a great opportunity for the pupils to experience a range of challenging activities such as caving, mountaineering and canoeing in a mountainous environment. The school hires out Idwal Cottage Youth Hostel and has sole use of the building during the visit. In addition we also visit the beautiful beaches of Anglesey for kite flying and learn about the Legend of Gelert when visiting the scenic town of Beddgelert.
Helvellyn, Lake District
Those Year 6 pupils who have particularly enjoyed their Snowdonia trip have a second opportunity to explore the mountains. This weekend trip for the more adventurous children offers the opportunity to climb Helvellyn via Swirral Edge, an exciting rocky ridge ascent from our base at Helvellyn Youth Hostel. The second day provides opportunities for children to learn to lead their peers over different terrains to the summit of Sheffield Pike.
